Style Me Right

This season’s Pre-Wedding began with our dear couple Suhali and Harsh.

We chose the land of gods and saints: Banaras, to picturize the purity and simplicity of their love. Banaras being the oldest and holiest cities, their first look reflected their old school rooted romance. The Holy Ghats of Banaras were the ideal place to capture their kind of pure love.

We styled Suhali in a Banarasi Saree by ‘Ekaya’, authentic jewellery and a ‘Juda with Gajra’; making a point to choose the combination of red saree and green blouse to give a vibrant pop of colours to her attire.

She wore green glass bangles and lets not forget her royal ‘Khandani’ neckpiece and anklet. Unnoticeably these small details bring life to a picture.

Harsh on the other hand was given Dhoti & Kurta with Lime green bandh gala by ‘Adorn His’, which went perfectly with the feel of the environment and his personality. Both Harsh and Suhali complimented each other in their first look.

Harsh is Suhali’s superhero and that’s what she kept saying when we first met her. As harsh is this one absolutely calm, simple and composed guy, we had the idea of making him a small town superhero. We thought of breaking the ice and introduce harsh to the fun side of his personality. We wanted him to see his different self in this Pre-Wedding shoot

Their second look was of a local hero who believes to be a superman; he uses ‘Angocha’ as his cape, wears vibrant blue superman t-shirt and matching shorts while his fancy girlfriend in a short yellow dress, wearing high heels on a boat, admires all his super powers. He takes her out on a boat date along with the gangster sadhus who are blessing their love. We had these Saadhus wear aviators, claiming it to the world that their saviour is here because we feel- ‘Love is always a Superhero

The styling in a city like Banaras needed quite some imagination, we kept their third look very simple yet old school. We fashioned them as a countryside couple where the girl brings lunch in a ‘Dabba’ for her boyfriend, which is followed by their bicycle trip around the town romancing and embracing their relationship. We chose baby pink for this look, Suhali was in a flowy gown and Harsh wore a baby pink Shirt with beige trousers. Reminds me of Radhika Apte and Akki in “Aaj se meri sari khushiyan teri hogayin.”

We at Happy Flashbacks absolutely love to see our couple dressed in a way that not only looks elegant but is also in harmony with their individuality and the environment. The styling of the couple in a shoot is thus extremely essential.
